Senator Boydell (ex-Minister ol Labour) knocked out Marwick (member for lllove). Both had attended a meeting of tlw Etmpire Parliamentary Association and were leaving the Committee room at noon, when Boydell stopped Marwick in a corridor and demanded an apolc-gv, referring to criticism made in Parliament, on Boydell’s administration of a sugar estat eon which a poor white experiment had failed.

Marwick refused to apologise and attempted to brush past Boydell who hit him in the face. Marwick replied witli a blow I xjtween the eyes. Boydell drew hack and administered a knock out.

Marwick fell heavily nud was unconscious for an hour.

When the House met, the leader of the Opposition amid a tense silence, raised the incident as a question of privilege. The Speaker suggested a secret committee should co-operate with the Senate.

The Premier accepted whereupon notice was given for Monday.
