BUY N.Z. GOODS
sill C. EERGUSSON’S ADVICE. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Feb. 6. A strong plea was made by the Governor-General, Sir Charles Fergusson, at the citizens’ farewell to-night to the people of New Zealand to buy New Zealand-made goods. 'Saving that they would be astonished at the difference it would make to the wellbeing the country, and how far it would go towards solving the difficulty of unemployment. He said: “I wonder if I may digress for a moment to say a few words which I .should like to say before I leave New Zealand. 1 believe very shortly there is going to be launched a great appeal to the people of New Zealand to support their own industries, and to buy New Zealand-made goods. (Applause.) I am not going to dwell long on that point. I would only like to say, if "C could only support those industries as they should be supported, what a difference it would make in the life of the country; how much employment it would give: and '>nw far it would &o towards solving that difficult prob-
lem ! May I make an appeal to you to give preference, always to New Zealand good. (Dear hear, and applause. )Failing New Zealand goods, British goods, and failing British goods, Empire goods. (Renewed applause.) I do believe from what 1 have seen of the industries of this country, that if only you would patronise and ask for N°w Zealand goods you would be astonished at the lange and quality of what is being manufactured in this country, and of which a groifit many people at present know very little. (Applause.)
