MAWSON’S EXPLORATIONS
“DISCOVERY” IN STORM
(All Rights Reserved).
CANBERRA. Feb. 6
A wireless advice from the Discovery, dated February 3, states the vessel experienced a three days severe north-easterly gale - following the perfect weather on Januaiy 28th. This caused a heavy drain on the ship’s coal supplies and she must proceed now to Kerguelen to replenish her bunkers. The season will then probably be too late to permit of a further sea-ions exploration within the pack ice before next summer.
