Norman (Wizard) Smith received an ovation upon bis return from New Zealand to-day. Numerous motoring friends overwhelmed him with congratulations upon his world record speed achievement on the Ninety Mile Beach. A RACE WINNER. SYDNEY, February 4. Agrion, the former New Zealand Derby winner, now in West Australia, won the' Trial Stakes of £BO at Vanning Park meeting on Saturday. The victory was made possible by the following conditions: “For all horses that have not won or received net value of £SO since September 1929.” Agrion carried 10.0, and ran seven furlongs in 1.29 1-5.
N.Z. CRICKET. SYDNEY, February 4. ' Mr Hugh Trumble, Secretary of the Melbourne Cricket Club,' who lias returned from New Zealand, said he was impressed with the progress New Zealanders were making. There were many really good batsmen there.
