Chicago advice states the Illinois Boxing Commission suspended Rioux with a fine of 1000 dollars for failure to give an honest exhibition of his skill in the Carnera. bout (cabled on Jan. 61st).
Camera was given favourable judgment and received the full purse of 1? .000 dollars. 1
Rioux’s handlers insisted that the fight was not “fixed.” They said that Rioux was “scared stiff.” When asked why he failed to fight. Rioux replied: “I tried, but after the first punch, I knew nothing.” Carnera on Feb. 6th. at Newark, New Jersey, meets Cowboy Owens, who defeated Rioux and Peterson.
