£Mf 0. president of the Wellihgtqn.-Bistrict Law .Sbhiety, isaid: “He , hasjeft behind’ him -' no resent-' ihepts: but a memory <rt an unassuming manner and a modest personality— a meriiory/of a man who has given long and valuable service to the profession of the law. He was still in active practice after *55 years of strenuous work, when he was called to. his long rest, and now, T . on behaif extend to. “Those who Knew Mi- Martin regarded him as a man of the highest 4tahdingln the legal profession,?’ said the Chief Justice. ‘‘He was one o'f tmK old school of conveyancers and real property lawyers, of whom, unfortunately,' so few now remain. He .was always held in the highest respect by the .clients whom he served, and particularly by the local bodies; Not" only was he esteemed by them; but also by alf his brothers in the legal profession, whc( had the most complete confidence in! hint .and who knew that his word was always his bond.”

His Honour concluded by tendering the respectful sympathy of his colleagues and himself, to Mrs Martin and the members' of her family.
