GREY NURSE SHARKS

IN NEW ZEALAND WATER. NEW PLYMOUTH, January 27. "Sharks from Australian waters are coming over to vhe New Zealand coast,” said Mr A. Taylor, a New Plymouth resident, when describing the capture of a grey nurse shark from a launch of Moturoa on Saturday. The shark weighed between 600 and 700 pounds. It. was 9ft 3;n in length and had teeth protuding fronv its jaws for about three-quarters of an inch. The shark was hooked on a large-

sized solinappe-i' line baited with a cod and it gave the fisli-Annan an exciting two hours of playing before it was brought- alongside the launch. Five men were required to haul the shark aHoard. There had been several of these sharks about lately, said Air Taylor. He thought it dangerous for swimmers to venture into deep water, for this was the variety of. shark which caused so many tragedies on Australian beaches.. AVitli jaws that could easily take off a man’s head in one snap, these sharks are real man-eaters.
