A NEWSPAPER HOAXED. (British Official Wireless). LONDON, Jan. 27. Tn the House of Commons Sir J. Simon drew attention to a repoit as to the forecast of the findings of the India Commission which appeared in a London newspaper. He asked the Attorney-General whether he would be able to prevent a repetition of the statements. Air Jowett explained that in view of the serious nature of the statements, full inquiries had been made and it had been discovered that the newspaper was the unwitting victim of an Indian journalist who had pre viouslv been found trustworthy. The newspaper had extracted. in the presence of the Chairman oi the Commission, a full confession to the effect that the statements contained in the report were invented by the Indian for the sole purpose of obtaining its sale to the newspaper.
