NATIVE OF CHRISTCHURCH. HOBART, January 24. The death hate occurred of Sir Alf red Ashbolt, a prominent Tasmanian and a former Agent-General at the age of sixty. The deceased was native of bnstclmrch. He leaves a widow, a son and a daughter. Sir Alfred Henry Ashbolt was born at Christchurch in 1870 and was the son of Mr Alfred Ashbolt. He settled in Hobart as a young man and eventually became a partner in and director of the firm of Henry Jones and Co., one of the largest industrial- concerns it Australia. He was a director of many companies a member of the Cornwealth Board of Trade and chairman nlf the State Advisory Board to the Government of Tasmania. He was Agent-General for Tasmania from 1919 to 1924. He was created a Knight Bachelor in 1925.
