BOWLING
HOKITIKA v. GREY. A return match was played on the local green on Saturday afternoon between Hokitika and Grey mouth Clubs for the Reynolds Badges, held by the Grey Club. After an interesting game victory rested with Hokitika by . the narrow margin of one point, the totals being 104 and 103. Of the five rinks, Hokitika, were successful with four, having an advantage of 28 paints, while one Grey rink won, Whibley having an advantage of 27 points against Benjamin's team. Mr W. Wilson’s team were successful in annexing the Reynolds Badges. Afternoon tea was provided by the ladies in their usual complete manner. The green was in good order and players enjoyed the game in the warm sunshine. At the conclusion, Mr Choke (President of the Club) expressed the pleasure at having the visitors present and the close games that had resulted. Before asking the Greymouth President to hand over the Badges to the winning team, »Mr Cooke referred to the loss sustained -j Mr Eric Moss, and at his requesi those assembled stood in silence, as a mark of condolence. Mr Brebner expressed pleasure at the pleasant game that had resulted, even though they had been defeated, and congratulated the winners of the Badges on their success. Cheers for the two teams and the ladies'concluded a very successful game. The Hokitika colts made a name fo’ themselves having a substantial win. The particulars were:

The Dominion bowling tournament was concluded to-day, when the semifinals and final of the pairs championship were decided. In the semi-finals, Cooper (Southland) defeated Tamblyn (St. Kilda) 24/20, and Jenkin (Carlton) defeated Cooper (Southland 17/6. The final between Jenkin and Burgess (Hokonui( provided a very exciting finish, and was won by Jenkin with the last bowl, the scores being 20/19 in his favour.
