The birthrate in England and Wales for the year 1929 was sixteen point inree per thousand of the population. This is the lowest on record. The death rate was thirty-three point lour per thousand of the population. This sliyws an increase of one point seven over the 1928 rate, being due to the influenza epidemic tn the spring. ENGLISH BIRTHRATE. (Received this day at 8 a.m.) LONDON, Jan. 24. The English birthrate is now below the figure which statisticians estimate as necessary to maintain the population at its present strength. It is probably the lowest in the world.
