O’Brien M.P., hits received , the following replies to made:— ' HOKITIKA MAIL SERVICE, Dear Sir,—ln continuation of my letter of the 3rd September last in reference to a petition from a number of residents in the vicinity of Hokitika for improved mail.’.service facilities: I now beg to inform you that I have ' authorised the establishment of a thrice-weekly rural' mail service for*;, the benefit of the* settlers of Thretn Aide and the settlers at present served! by the Arahura, Humphrey’s and Ho Ho post offices. The establishment of the service will render unnecessary tho Arahura, Humphrey’s and Ho Ho post offices, and these offices will accordingly be closed.—Yours, etc, Joseph WardJ Postmaster General. y v ~’ KUMARA' STATION. \ Dear Sir, —With further reference to your letter of 4th; ult, regarding the necessity for additional accommodation at Kumara railway, station. As you are aware arrangements . were made for the'District Engineer, to meet yourself and a number, of local sawmillera at Kumara, in order that tins matter might be discussed; and having regard to the position as indicated in informing you that, the provision of on additional siding has now been authorised.
