THIEVES SUCCESS
POLICE HOAXED. United Press Association—By ElectricTelegraph—Copyright), LONDON, Jan. 16 London . police were ingeniously hoaxed by motor car bandits at Brompton road. In the early morning a car drew up in front of a fashionable fur shop. A man threw a spare wheel at a plate glass v.mlow and took a quantity of furs and a fully clothed wax dummy and then drove off. Two policemen attracted by the noise commandeered a taxi and pursued the robbers. The taxi was drawing near when the door of the fleeting car opened and a combed model with its face smeared i\ ith reel paint was thrown out. The police car overran it and thinking the figure was a woman, the men alighted only to find the mangled blood smeared mess was a hoax. By this time the bandits had got away.
Even the police had to laugh at the smartness and originality ol the thieves.
