ANNUAL CONFERENCE. [By Telegraph, Per Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 17. The practice of price-cutting was strongly criticised at the annual conference of the New Zealand Master Grocers’ Federation, in a paper prepared by H. Hopkins, of Nelson, and read by the secretary. Hopkins’ paper likened price cutters in the grocery trade to the wages earner, who accepted work at below Union rates. When they worked for wages they were a sort found in the ranks of blacklegs.
