ATTEMPTED MURDER

GRAY CHARGED WITH OFFENCE. (By Telegraph—Press Association). CHRISTCHURCH, Jnu. 16. In the Alagistrate’s Court, Charles Robert Gray, the younger of two brothers who have admitted fire crimes, pleaded not guilty to attempting to murder Edward Hammond on July ltitli. He pleaded guilty to burglaries 'at Hammond’s shop on July 16th and July 21st. Hammond, in evidence, said: “I have no doubt at all that the man in the dock is the man.” CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 16. In a statement made by Charles Robert Gray to the. police, he said: “I got some ammunition from the shop and was getting other goods when Hammond came in. I shot him in the hack. I used the pistol I stole from the Museum. Accused was committed for trial.
