N.S.W. CHAMPIONSHIPS. (Australian Press Association). SYDNEY, Jan. 15. At the swimming championships to-night at Drummone baths, Cameron (New Zealand) won the 100 yards backstroke championship in 1.10 1-5 wheh is 2-5 under the record, but being a non-resident lie does not get the title. The 440 yards, free style, was won by Moss Christies in 5.24. 220 yards, junior championship, A. Noonan. Time 2.37. CHRISTO HUR.CH OA RNIVAL. CmRIiSTCHUROFT. Jan. 15. At the swimming carnival in the tepid baths tr-night, the 100yds junior girls’ championship was won by Miss' R. Low, in 83 secs, a Canterbury record. •The "■"•"('n’s 100yds championship was retained by Miss J. Craig, who recorded 81 4-5 secs. The 200yds breaststroke champion-, ship was won by W. Hunter in 3 mins 20 1-5 secs. The 150vds backstroke, championship was won by L. J._ Moorhouse in 1.49 1-5, which time betters the New Zealand record by 4 min 4-5 sees. A. T. Stokes made an attempt on the 880>yds record, and covered the distance in 6 3-ssecs better time, hut as he was paced by two men who joined in after he had covered several lengths, the record cannot be officially recognised.
