C AUCKLAND, January, 11. \ Replying to comments by, the" partment of Health oh his preparation for the treatment of tuberculosis, the Rey.'Edmund Ward says: “With reference to the statement that the herb used by me is not known to possess apy qualities other than sedative, I wish to say that if the Department as-
..Berts in face of the evidence that the tierb Pomaderris elliptica, if properly collected, prepared and administered, p'"'aoes not possess remarkable medical qualities, the Department is merely being absurd.” sir?iWard says, moreover, that the quality of being sedative is markedly absent;;; Commenting on the statement that his preparation is being analysed by thig Department, he says his arrangement with the Minister was to disclpsb his formula to Dr M’Lean, o»f Pukeqra Sanatorium. His condition for doing this was that the Department /should guarantee’his out of pocket expenses. It would seem that the Department was unwilling to fulfil the cqhditfpn and was. trying to obtain the formula without reference to himself. An analyis would therefore .be quite Useless.
