SOVIET CAMPAIGN
AGAINST CHRISTMAS.
RIGA, Jan. 11
Demonstrations against Christmas in the old style, which began in Russia on the 6th of January, are claimed lp the Soviet press to have been most successful throughout the country. More than thirty thousand adults and ten thousand children demonstrated in front of Moscow churches with blasphemous effigies and posters. Members of a procession carrying tableaux showing mock vestmented priests, engaged in buffonery, concentrated in a square wherein ikons were burned i a bonfire. Crowds danced round a Christmas tree containing effigies of notables, including the British Prime Minister, Mr Ramsay MacDonald, which one by one were consigned to the flames.
