ABOLITION PROPOSED

BROKEN WILL. Jan. 9. A startling announcement to Australians was made here by Mr Blakely, Minister of Home Affairs in the Commonwealth Government, who said that, in all probability a referendum would he taken this year by the Federal Government, asking for power to abolish the State Parliaments, thereby giving full and complete power to + l -" Federal Government. This would mean the devolution of domestic powers to shires, municipalities, and provinces. The Federal Government would control the national railwjayijjl, waterways, Customs and defence.
