ADDINGTON STOCK SALE. CHRISTCHURCH, Jan 8. ■ no Addington live stock market today was a successful one <fn the whole. Beef—There were 540 arrivals yarded, mainly cows. The sale opened at late rates, but eased at the closing stages at about £1 per head. Steers sold: Heavy £2O to £24 7s (id, prime £l7 to £l9 ss, ipedium £l6 to £l7 os, light £ll 10s to £l4. Cows and heifers sold: Heavy £l4 to £l6 15s, prime £lO to £ll, medium £8 5s to £9 5s and plain £5 5s to £B. Mutton—The entry was, 5500. The demand was good throughout at late rates. Wethers sold.: Extra to 36s lCkl, prime 30s to 335, medium 27s to 28s 6d, light 25s and 26s 6d. Ewes.sold : Extra to 26s 4<l, prime 22s to 24s 6d, medium 18s to 21s, light 13s to 16s 6d. Fat lambs—i here was a medium entry, which met with good competition. Prices were: Extra to 32s 4-cl, prime 27s and 295, m eel in nr 24s to 26s 6 ft, light 20s to 23s 6d. , v Store sheep—There were 7600 yarded. There was a good attendance of buyers and fair competition. Halfbred wether lambs sold 10s■ Id to 18s 9d, crossbred wether lambs 12s to 225, mixed sex lambs to 19s Bd, two-tooth wethers 14s to 17s 10ft, four-tooth 18s and 21s 9d, Chatham Island wethers to 255, small and half-bred wethers 8s 3d. Ewes sold: Two-tooth 19s to 255, four and six-tooth three-quarter bred to 27s 9d, six and eight-tooth 17s 3d, son"d mouth 17s sd, culls 11s 6d ewes and lambs 9s Id to 15s. Pigs—There was a medium yarding of pork and bacon. Price? were slightly better. Pork sold 48s to 555, heavy 60s to 70s. The average was 7] ft .per lb. Bacon sold £3 15s and £4 10s. heavy £4 15s to £5 ss. extra to £5 16s 6d, the average price being 7<l per lb. . Store pigs—There was keen competition at advanced rates.
