COMMUNIST RAID

ON CHINESE DINNER PARTY. [United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.] . (Received this day at 9.40 a.m.) SHANGHAI, Jan. 8. A Foochow telegram states a Communist gang invaded an official dinner party, held up the guests at revolver point, seized six guests and hound them with ropes and carried them: off. The prisoners included Admiral Yang Shuchang (Commander-in Chief of the Chinese Navy and concurrently CivilGovernor of the province of Fukien). The others were the principal members of the Chief Executive of the Provincial Government of Fukien.

Communist forces, styling themselves the People’s Army have long terrorised the district, but this is their most daring exploit.
