GROWTH OF SYDNEY. (Australian Press Association) SYDNEY, Jan. 7. The Sydney city revaluations for the year 1930 total £71,851,000, an increase of £10,768,000 over 1928. This means additional taxation for the property owners. AUSTRALIA’S NEW TARIFF. BRISBANE, Jan. 7. The assistant Federal Minister of Customs, Hon. Frank Forde, states that Sir Amos Nelson, the prominent English *;ot3on spinner, intends to spend a hundred thousand pounds on the establishment of a cotton mill, either in Queensland or in New South Wales This mill will give employment to fifteen hundred men. CYCLONE CONTINUES. SEVERAL RIVERS FLOODED BRISBANE, Jan. 8. A continuation of cyclonic conditions in North Queensland for the last two days i'esulted in the flooding of several coastal rivers. Large areas of cane country are under water. The water is seven feet over the railway bridge on the Herbert river. All traffic is suspended. Alany dead beasts are coming down the Johnstone*, river. The rain is continuing and the rivers still rising.
