New South Wales, states that the three children (two girls and a boy) of Air Charles Barnes, school teacher of Quambone. were drowned at Jerseyville. Air Barnes with his wife and children were picnicking at a beach, when the mother scalded herself when making tea. Barnes put the family in his car with the intention of seeking medical aid. Driving rapidly, he lost his way, and unwittingly drove into a river. He and his wife were washed to the surface, but the children were trapped under the car hood, and were unable to be rescued.
