The death occurred at the district hospital this morning of Albert Shrove, aged sixty years, of Kamo, who fed from a bus in Whaiigarei oil Monday night sustaining a I'raetmo of the skiill. CAR COLLIDES WITH TRAM. WELLINGTON, January 8. A car driven by John Miiicliin ol Lower Hutt, with his wife and young daughter accompanying him had a collision with a train at the entrance to the new railway workshops at Lower Hutt. The daughter received severe injuries to the left leg, and shock. The wile was injured in the head and has concussion and shock. Minchin was uninjured . , VALUELKSS CHEQUES. NEW PLYMOUTH, Jan. 8. At the Magistrate’s Court. James Bruce Miller, aged JO, was charged with issuing valueless cheques for £4lO for payment of a car at Otorohanga on Dec. 21st. Detective Meiklejohn stated seven charges were pending concerning cheques uttered at New Plymouth. He was remanded till Wednesday. Bail of £2OO and two sureties of'£loo.

DRUNKEN DRIVER

HAMILTON. Jan. 8

A youth of 24, Peter Gilles Hansen was fined £2O and his license suspended for 12 months for being intoxicated in charge of a car. Gilles and two companions overtook another car and collided with it. The speed as they turned the corner was 50 miles an hour. They were on the wrong side, struck a telegraph pole and overturned.
