Telegraph, Per Press Association. WANGANUI, Jan. 6. C. Angus' (Canterbury and South Island sing.,a champion) wrested the North Island lawn tennis singles title from C. 3,1. Malfroy, of Wellington, when they met at Wanganui courts to-day in the final. It was a gruelling five-set match, characterised by steady play and wonderful placements. although there was not a great deal of hard hitting. The scores were (i—2, 3—6, 9—7, 3—6, 6—2. Miss Niclioils of Auckland, won the women’s singles North Island championship, easily defeating Mrs Adams, of Wellington o—3, 6—2.
Wilson and Mrs Melody of Wellington, had a comfortable victory over Rhodes-Williams and Miss Nicholls, whom they defeated 7—5, 6—l in the final of the combined championship. The men’s doubles was won hv Malfroy and Wilson, who defeated Angus and Lampe 4—6, 2—6, B—6, 6—o, 6—3. Mrs Melody and Miss Myers won the .women’s doubles title 10—12, 6—4, B—fi. PARIS, Jan. 6. For the final of the Christmas tennis tournament on covered courts. Borotra beat Tilden 6—4, 6—2, 4—C. 6—l.
