There will not be a meeting of the Westland Acclimatisation Society this month. With Lake Kanieri the popular resort it now is, something should be done by the controlling authorities in file way of providing public conveniences. i here is an urgent need for something being done, and if the resort is to retain its popularity.with visitors, particularly those from overseas, the requirements referred to should be supplied without delay. Lake Kanieri continues to be a great attraction for visitors, while motoring parties journey out daily in considerable numbers. Just at present the lake is abnormally high due to the heavy rainfall experienced over the last ten days. Some 14 inches have been recorded at the lake-side since Christmas Day. The road to the lake is in greatly improved order of late, while the bush is looking at its best. The rata is now blooming and several trees are a blaze of fiery coloring.

Dowling who has severed his connection with the institution. The presentation which consisted of a case of Loewe pipes, tobacco pouch and razor strop, was made by the Medical Superintendent. Nevertheless he wished Mr Dowling every success in his undertaking. Mr Wormington supplemented Dr Hava’s remarks. Mr Dowling in a very feeling speech replied.
