EARTHQUAKE FUND. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, January 3. The Central Earthquake Relief Fund now amounts to £143,795. WOMAN KILLED. AUKTjAND, January 3. Fatal injuries were sustained by Mrs Josephine Clarke, aged 57 years, of Ponsonby, when she was struck by a. motor car after alighting from a, train car in Jervois Road, Ponsonby this afternoon. The woman died in the Auckland hospital an hour and a-half after she was admitted. She had sustained severe internal injuries. The accident occurred at Hamilton Road tram stopping place, where Airs Clarke left a tram which was proceeding to Herne Bay. Just after stepping into the roadway, she was struck Ly a motor car. EX-CHIEF POSTMASTER DEAD. 'HAMILTON, January 4. Obituary.—Robert Henry Boyd, late Chief Postmaster of Wellington, died at Hamilton last evening. He was 56 years of age.’ He was formerly Chief Postmaster nt Hamilton. He was three years a cadet at Hawera, second money order clerk at Wanganui, postmaster at pVTorrinsville, and Chief postmaster at Thames.
