NAPIER, January 1
Pete Sarron defeated Johnny Leekie to-night on points in easily the best contest seen in Napier for many years. It was clean and open, with many full arm exchanges. The pace was very fast throughout. Up to the 12th round there was little between the two. In the remaining three, however, Sarron did the forcing, apparently seeking a knockout, but, although not successful, he placed a margin of points in his favour.
