WELLINGTON, Dec. 30.
The Plunket Shield cricket match Canterbury v. Wellington was resumed to-day in perfect weather on a. fast wicket. Wellington in the second innings made 250 (Lowry 59, M'uGirr 57, Airev 47). l.este.r 3 for 53, Merritt 4 for 74. Canterbury in the second innings have lost 2 for 102 (Roberts, not out, 52, Page, not out, 14).

WELLINGTON. Dec. 31
The Plunket Shield cricket match was resumed this morning in fine weather with a strong northery wind. Page 14 and Roberts 52 continued Canterbury’s second innings. McGirr with the wind and Badcock were the opening bowlers. WELLINGTON, Dec. 31.
Roberts reached 70 making the total 163, just after 11.45, hub immediately afterwards was caught at square leg by Airey off Lambert. 160—0—70. Harris followed but in Lambert’s sixth over was caught by Dempster at square leg. 175—5—5.
Lester was next and Talbot drove Lambert for six. At 12.15 the score was 191 for five (Roberts 70, Harris 5, Talbot, not out, 48, Lester, not out, 4, extras 18).
Two hundred was reached when the innings had been in progress for 170 minutes. Tho batsmen were well set and the score mounted steadily despite fowling changes. The partnership added 50 runs in 35 minutes. Lester was nearly run out in stealing a single off Badcock. Tabot reached top score for the innings after being at the wicket just over 70 minutes. At 12.45 the score was 252 for five. (Talbot, not out, 85, Lester, not, out, 26, extras 22).
The partnership realised 100 in just under an hour. Talbot was then 98 and reached the century with a boundary off McGirr. He had taken just over 100 minutes and reached 113 by hitting a six and a four off Lambert’s last over before lunch, but put a hot catch into Badcock’s hands at cover point. 290—6—113. Lester (not out) 36. Extras 22. Talbot played - a splendid, forcing, and chanceless, innings.

In the Sheffield match against Queensland, South Australia in the second innings made 177 for nine wickets. Pritchard scored 43, V. rtieiiardson 42. In the bowling, Hurwood took 5 wickets for 62. South Australia won on the first innings by cue run. BEALE’S TEAM. JUST BEATEN BY SOUTHLAND. INVERCARGILL, Dee. 30. The match between Southland and Beale’s Auckland touring eleven was concluded to-day in fine weather and resulted in a win for Southland by nine runs, after a most exciting finish., On Saturday Southland made iO3 and 38 without loss .and the visitors made 100. Continuing their second innings to-day the home team were all out far 129, leaving the Aucklanders 133 to get to win. With two wickets still in hand, the visitors required only ten, but the remaining oatsmen failed to score. M.C.C. V. OTAGO. DUNEDIN, Dec. 31. When the match England v. Otago started in line weather at 11.35 a.m. the wicket was dead, favouring the ’batsmen, 'so 'Gilligan winning the toss baited, with Dawson. llowley, Benson and Barrattt standing down. (Dickinson and Elms both opened with maidens. In Dickinson’s second over Dawson touched the ball to leg which Clark, the wicket keeper, just failed to hold, the ball going to tl:e boundary.
At 29 Dunning relieved Elms and • limit relieved Dickinson. Blunt was giving trouble hut Gilligan soon found gaps getting the ball away to deep leg off Dunning. None for 40 after half an hour's play. At 45 an appeal against Gilligan off Dunning was disallowed, and 50 appeared in fifty-one minutes. Gilligan gave Blunt a hard chance off his own bowling, the ball going through bis hands. Dickinson cnnfiyon again at
55 and two runs later Rims replaced Dunning. The howling was not deadly. and the batsmen pegged away steadily on a wicket to suit them. At 69 Blunt replaced Dickinson am' the score was 81 after an hour am' ten minutes. Gilligon 40, Dawson 30. At the luncheon adjournment tin score was 101 for no wickets, (lilligau 65, Dawson 35.
