MUTINY ON EMOEN

CONFLICTING VERSTOXS

[United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.]

BERLIN, Dec. 29

The Communist newspapers “ Rote Falme and “ Weltamabond ” both give sensational accounts ol a mutiny on tlie cruiser Linden, which they declare occurred at the beginning of December, but it was kept secret. It is stated that the officers ol the Enulen constantly were receiving banquets in the various ports which the vessel visited, while the sailors had only starvation rations. and they there demanded the abandonment of the cruise, and an immediate return. During the discussions, it is stated, they hoisted the Red Flag, and forced tin l officers to order the cruiser home before Christinas, whereas it was not due hack till. March. The papers add that when entering Wilhelnisluifen the crew of the Enulen were arrested and chained, and were removed to tho marine prison. Two of them were convicted and gaoled.

Authoritative sources, however, discredit the story, but they agree that a few days before “The Internationale” was sung on the Eniden. Those responsible, they state, were courtmnrtialled, two being imprisoned and one acquitted.
