For the fourth round of the New Zealand Chess championship tourney, Gunderson beat Topip, Erskine beat Rutherford, Anderson beat Beyer, Scott beat Jeffreys, Severne beat Fairburn, Pleasants beat Ilicks, Purdy beat Kelling. The position of the players at the end of the fourth round was as follows;—Anderson 3, Severne 3L Kelling 2L Erskine 2i, Gunderson 21. Purdy 2, Scott 2, Beyer 2, Jeffreys 2.
