The M.C.C. team defeated South Canterbury by an innings and fotryfive runs. The visitors declared on their overnight score. The home S'de in the first innings made 126. Hamilton (33) being the only batsman to make a stand. Allom took six for forty. In the second innings the home team were all out for 82, Nichols taking three for thirteen, Woolley three for 19, Allom one for 9, Worthington two for 28. SYDNEY GAMES. SYDNEY, Dec. 29. In the grade cricket yeterday, batting for Balmain against Randwick Wheatley made 105; for Manly against Waverley, Cummins made 90 not out. INTER-STATE GAMES. MELBOURNE, Dec. 29. The wicket was soaked, when play between New South Wales and Victoria began. The game was adjourned when nine runs had been added to the New South Wales overnight score. The game was resumed at four cclock and an hour later all were out for 402, Davidson being 24. In the bowling, Alexander took 3 for 115, IJlaekie 3 for 71, and Ironmonger 2 'pv 89. A’Beckett 2 for 48. At' the drawing of stumps, Victoria had lost 2 tickets for 33 runs, of which Ponsford made 12. ; ADELAIDE, Dec. 29. * The Shield cricket match was not resumed till the afternoon, owing to the wet pitch, South Australia's first innings closed for Y3Bl. SOUTHLAND V. BEALE’S TEAM. INVERCARGILL, Dec. 29. Southland commenced a game with Beale’s Auckland touring team on the Show Ground yesterday ;n fine, but cold weather. The wicket was easy after heavy rain. The si tors won the toss and decided to field. The majority of the Southland batsmen made a poor showing, and the side was dismissed for 103 runs. Conditions were i3eal for the resumption of the Plunket Shield match Canterbury v. Wellington. Canterbury in the first inings made 209.
