STORMY WEEK-END
SMALL .STEAMER CAPSIZED. (British Official Wireless). I RUGBY, December 23. Stormy weather during the weekend caused several casualties at sea. j The small steamship Lairdselm capsized in Loch Ryan, near Stranraer, yesterday, and sank. Pier captain, and crew of sixteen took to the boats and were saved. So hurriedly had the crew to leave the ship that many of them were scantily clothed. The in- ; .habitants on the shore attended to their wants. • Large quantities of cargo are being ; washed ashore between Dungeness and j Sandgate. Tt is thought that the cargo is from a submerged wreck which was broken up in the gales of last Friday i night and Saturday.
