SAFE BLOWN OPEN
A SUSPECT ARRESTED. (By Telegraph—Press Association). HASTINGS, Dec. 24. About 1.J5 a.m. the railway station was broken into and the door of the safe in the hooking office was blown open with gelignite, hut the enterprise of the burglars was not rewarded, as yesterday’s takings running into a considerable sum, had been banked, with tbe exception of a few shillings and some odd coppers. , A passer-by, on hearing tbe explosion, informed the police, and a constable, who was quickly on the spot, arrested a loiterer with suspicious articles in his possession and detained him. Evidently two men were concerned in the outrage.
