MR DONALD SUCCEEDS MR TAVERNER.

With reference to the readjustment rf .Ministerial Portfolios, ecnsequent upon Hon T. M. Wilford becoming High Commissioner. Sir Joseph Ward to-day announced further that Hon Mr Taverner had relinquished the portfolio of Customs, and that the Gover-nor-General has appointed Hon Mr Donald to this office.
Sir Joseph Ward said that it would he understood that the change was solely in the interests of Departmental convenience. It would also afford some necessary relief from the heavy burden of the work of Mr Taverner, whose administration of the portfolio of Customs had been of real value to the country.
