An important grocery merger is registered in the name of “Allied Supplies Limited,” with a capital of £451,800, to acquire the tea-packing and blending undertakings of the Home and Colonial Stores, Lipton’s firm, the Maypole Dairy Company, the Meadow Dairy Company, and Peark’s Dairies. The French Government has communicated to Britain a memorandum setting forth the general French view regarding naval disarmament in connection with tiie forthcoming Conference Its points summarising are :

Firstly: Naval disarmament is only part of the general limitation of armaments which the League of Nations must settle. Secondly: Land sea, and air armaments must lie considered as being interdependent.

Thirdly: The French demands in tonnage will he based on France’s needs.

Fourthly: The naval problem must be considered in relation to the guarantees of security that are necessary to each country concerned. The memorandum has also been communiated to the United States, Japan and Italv.
