CHINESE TROUBLE

(MISSIONARY’S DEATH. [United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.] SHANGHAI, Dec. 22. A number of reports indicate that Revd. Pike, an Austtalian, of the China inland mission, who was carried off from Kuiochow some months ago was murdered by his captors.

Rev. Crofts, a member of the same mission who is investigating the case, believes that Pike was shot m the hack, dripped of his clothing and thrown into the river. His horse and saddle were stolen.
