everYbodys pictures ‘ ‘NAPOLEON’ ’-TO-NIGHT. One cannot but be stirred to the very‘depths by the dramatic appeal of the spectacular French film, presented in this country by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, but filmed abroad by a French director and cast, with the co-operation of the French Government, in authentic locations, is now showing at the PrinCess Theatre. It is a General Society of Films production. Albert Dieudonne, who. enacts the role of Napoleon, gives' a splendid characterisation. Physically lie is well adapted to the paijt. His interpretation 'is an intelligent and sympathetic one and holds the interest at high pitch. Gina Manes makes a beautiful and fascinating Josephine. The cast is practically an all-star one, and counting principals and the vast crowds of the mob scenes, larger than the casts of most productions, even the super ones. B.ut they are well trained. Director Gance handles his mobs with particular brilliancy. “Napoleon” is ( a film that has captured;the very spirit of a life and a brilliant, stirring, dramatic age. Motion picture critics and others who have seen it, have pronounced it the greatest film production that has ever come out of France. A fine supporting series will also be shown, and Mr F. Hestieaux and his orchestra will play the incidental - score.
