HARD-WORKED M.P.s. That an M.P.’s work does not end when Parliament rises was stressed by Mr F. Lye, member for Waikato, when discussing his activities since the end of the session during his recent visit to Morrinsville, the headquarters of his constituency. “Since the general election I have covered the whole of my big electorate twice over,” said Mr Lye. He added that lie was endeavouring to fulfil his election promise to “get among the people and find out what are their requirements.” He had frequently left bomb at eight o’clock in the morning and toured his electorate all day, not getting home till seven at night. Mr Lye 4 confessed that since Ins election to Parliament he had not had time to do any work on his own farm, and. his motoring expenses were very heavy.

The United Xmas Day Service on behalf of the Presbyterian and Methodist Orphanages will be held this year in St Paul’s Methodist Church on Xmas night at 8 o’clock when the Rev J. W. Hayward will give the address.

Included in the programme of the Carol Service in the Methodist Church on Sunday evening, Mr Arnold Perry will sing “Comfort Ye My People.” Mrs Perry will, with Miss McCurdie, render the duet “He Shall Feed His Flock,” and Miss McCurdie will sing “Come Unto Him.” All are from “The Messiah.”

Five racing boats belonging to members of the Canterbury Outboard Club arrived by rail yesterday to take part in the Regatta to be held at Lake Kanieri on Saturday Dec. 28th. These Boats, together with visiting boats f rom Westport and the local fleet should, provide some excellent sport, a feature' of which will be a relay race between the visitors and the local boats. Details of the Regatta to be held on Christmas Day and Saturday 28th. Dec. will appear in Monday’s issue.
