CRICKET
The first games in the Southern Division cricket competition for the Keller Cup take place on Sunday, December 22, when Hokitika play Rimu, and Kanieri play Ruatapu. The following players will represent the Hokitika Cricket Club in their match at the Mental Hospital grounds at 11 o’clock (sharp.—R. Ferguson, J. Bannister, O. J. King, F. Freitas, W. Millner, A. Thomas, F. Stapleton, J. Coulson, Gilchrist, E. Wilson, J. Dale, L. Hughes, A. King, R. Nightingale. Any of the above unable to play please notify the Secretary. The following will represent Rimu: W. AUSTRALIAN INTER-STATE GAMES. (Australian Press Association) MELBOURNE, Dec. ID. The Queensland-V ictori a Sheffield Shield cricket match was resumed today. Victoria’s first innings closed for 107. Rigg made 25. In the bowling Tluirlow took 6 for 60, and Hurwood 2 for 33. Queensland in the second innings made 158. Gough scored 68. In the howling Blackie took 5 for 28, and Ironmonger 2 for 54. Victoria in the second innings lost one for ten. ADELAIDE, Dec. 19. In the Sheffield Shield cricket match against South Australia, New South Wales in the first innings made 314. McCalle scored 69, Allsopp 77, and Fairfax 39. In the howling, Grimmett took 3 for 91. Wall 3 for 74, and White field 3 for 67. South Australia m the first innings lost no wickets for 21. M.C.C. AGAINST NELSON. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) NELSON, December 20. The Englishmen commenced a match at Nelson to-day The weather is fine but cloudy. Gilligan sent Nelson in and at noon the locals had two down for 9, Allom taking both for 3 runs. At lunch Nelson had two wickets down for 70 runs. Neale (not out) 32. S. Newman (not out) 27.
