RUGBY CONTROL.
OBJECTION TO ENGLISH DICTATION. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association ) NEW PLYMOUTH, December 13. In reply to the New Zealand Rugby Union regarding the resolution passed by the English Rugby Union at Twickenham, the Taranaki Union has passed the following resolution: “That, as the variations in New Zealand of the laws of the game as framed by the International Board are purely for domestic play, and are sanctioned by the Board for that purpose by dispensation, the Taranaki Union regards conditions now sugested to be improved as a precedent to the consideration of the question of giving the Dominions representation on a truly International Board or Consultive Committee, as being provocative rather than conciliatory, and as savouring of a chastisement, rather than of toleration. This Union affirms that, whilst up to now football opinion has favoured the new rules, there would be no question that all the decisions of an International Board on which New Zealand had direct representation would be loyally accepted.
