MR BALDWIN’S PREDICTION. (United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) LONDON, Dec. 14. Rt. Hon Stanley Baldwin (Leader of the Conservative Party), speaking at JMUnburgh, prophesied that the next ■budget will show a deficit of from twenty to thirty, or forty millions sterling. The main part of this, lie said, must be met by extra taxation. The Government, said Mr Baldwin, was piling fresh burdens upon industry, and the solution of the unemployment problem was becoming increasingly impossible by reason of Labour’s extravagance and of an atmosphere of uncertainty. INTERESTING SITUATION. LONDON, Dec. 15. Though the political situation contains possibilities of dramatic developments, lobbyists generally agree that neither Liberals nor Conservatives intend to. carry opposition to the Coal Bill to the length of defeating the Government and forcing an election, which nobody wants. Conservatives cannot support the Liberal rejection motion as it is at present worded, and when the Conservative amendment is tabled it is expected that its terms will not be accepted by the Liberals. 7 The Government whip-.' sent out an S.O.S. demanding the attendance of every Labour member on Thursday, when a critical division will be taken,
