COUNTY COUNCIL SUED. SEQUEL TO FATAL MOTOR ACCIDENT. [By Telegraph, Per Press Association.] BLENHEIM, December 10. Notice lias Been served on the Aivatere County Council of the intention of William Montgomery Livingstone of Kaiapoi, taxi-proprietor, to proceed in the Supreme Court to recover a sum of £IOO damages, arising out of an accident which occurred some months ago ,on the Main South road, near Lake Grassmore. The plaintiff was. driving a motor car which capsized over the end of a culvert at night-time, killing one of the occupants, Mrs Violet Chaney. The allegation is that the culvert was improperly constructed, thus causing the accident. The husband of the late Mr Chaney had also begun an action against the Council claiming a sum of £.3000 damages arising out of the same set of circumstances. DAY’S BAY TRAGEDY. WELLINGTON, Dec. 13. A verdict of accidental drowning was returned at the inquest on Robert James Watson, 23, who lost his life at Day’s Bay on Saturday. The Coroner said he thought Guilfoyle was to be commended in the actions lie took to save the life of his comrade, although his efforts were unavailing.

BYRD’S MESSAGE TO THE GOVERNOR, WELLINGTON, December 13.
