Lunn stated that the number of single women domestics assisted overseas for the year ended September was 6,834, of which 4.748 were for Canada, 1020 for Australia, and 184 for New Zealand. The wages varied averaging 14.45 dollars monthly for Canada, £4 8s for Australia, and £4 7s for New Zealand. He there was no fund providing for tlieir return if the work was uncongenial. Mr W. Graham introduced the Coal Minos Bill relating to marketing hours. , The Work Bill was read the first time. (Received this dnv at 11 a.m., LONDON, Dec. 12. In the Commons, Mr MacDonald replying to a question, said he could not give the Commons an opportunity to discuss the Business of the Naval Conference before its assembly. After a meeting of the Liberal Party, in the Commons Mr Lloyd George gave notice of motion for the rejection of the Coal Bill on the grounds that while favouring a reduction in hours and establishment of a coal miners national industrial board, he could not approve of the Bill, because it does not prompt reorganisation of the industry, and does not secure a reduction in costs of production. On the contrary, the .Bill g!vos vested interests in inefficient . pits, and subsidises coal supplied to competing foreign manufactures. and increases in coal prices to British industries and consumers.
