U.S.A. WHEAT

SMALLER CROP. I United Preßs Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) WASHINGTON, .December 6. The United States Secretary of Agriculture, Mr Hyde, has issued his annual report, in which it is stated that, although tho present season’s wheat crop is considerably smaller than that of 1928, it may return the growers a , larger income, since the prices are substantially higher so far this season than they were during the corresponding period of the previous season. He adds: “The reduction of our wheat output is offset by the increased carry over from the (previous season. The income on our wheat depends upon the world wheat situation. The world wheat production, outside of China and Russia, in 1929, is approximately 3400 million bushels,, or five hundred million bushels loss than it was in 1928. It is indicated that the reduction has raised the world price level.’’ GRAIN POOL OPERATING. NEW YORK, Dec. 7. A report from Chicago states that the Farmers’ National Grain Corporation has taken a seat on the Chicago Board of Trade, and will begin the operating of its grain-marketing programme, which, the officers of the Corporation and members of the Federal Farm Board state, will eventually exceed that of any other single agency in the country.
