MINERS UNITED. (Australian Press Association) SYDNEY, Dec. 8. There was no development in the coal position yesterday. It is expected that the whole of the miners’ lodges will have held their meetings for consideration of peace terms by Tuesday. ANOTHER EFFORT. BY FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. SYDNEY, December 8. The Federal Government is greatly concerned by the miners’ hostility to any form of a compromise. J.t is believed that air effort will be made early in the coming week to bring the parties again together. There was a mass meeting of the miners in the Newcastle area yesterday. The meeting almost unanimously rejected the peace terms.

MINERS ATTITUDE. (Received this dav at 1.6 p.m.) SYDNEY, Dec. 9. Northern miners with the exception of a few small lodges have rejected the terms approved by the miners delegates Rothbury miners however, are demanding a secret ballot. The'Minister for'Mines Mr Weaver, has received applications from skilled miners sufficient to man Rothbury and another mine of similar size. If there is no prospect of the miners resuming work, Government will man the mines, and if the miners re lose the work that is offered then the Government will withdraw the dole.
