VIOLENT DEATHS

People who met with violent deaths in the metropolis during the week-end totalled 6 persons, 4 victims being children from four to sixteen years. A tragic: affair occurred at Fairfield, where mother and daughter were nearly drowned attempting to save a younger child. But for the' prompt action of a man there would have been three victims instead of one.
Most of the tragedies occurred in creeks and water holes. The hot weather caused thousands to flock to the beaches where life savers had a busy time
