ON AUSTRALIAN TARIFF. [United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.] (Received this day at 8.30. a.m.) NEW YORK, Dec. 8. The “Sun” in a leader on “Australian Rising Tariff’ said certain American exports are expected to be affected by the Australian tariff increases, but the evidence now available indicates toe blow will not be staggering. Australians of means ho have a" strong preference for American cars as opposed to cars of other foreign makes, will continue buying them and pay ior the privilege. The leader concludes with comment upon Mr Seullm’s proposal to synchronised sound films and stresses Mr Bruce’s defeat was partly due to a similar amusement tax.
