WELLINGTON, Nov. 29.
'•'A fire broke out at the Arahiwi privote Jiotcl, 67, Abel Smith Street, shortly after 3 p.m. to-day.' The fire had a fairly strong hold when discovered. and the firemen were faced with' a difficult task. On arrival, the flames spread so rapidly that an attempt to get in touch with a boarder on the first floor was out of the question, and the man had to jump to the ground, a distance of about 2d feet.
The; man, whose name is not yet known, was. removed to the hospital. The building, which is of 22 rooms, iVa's very badly. damaged. •. Tlie proprietress is Nlrs E. NI. pine.
