GLACIAL CHILL
AT DECEPTION ISLAND
United Press Association.—By Electrio Telegraph.—Copyright.)
LONDON. November 28. Sir TT. Wilkins wirelessed as follows vesterdav (Wednesday):—
“Strong south winds, carrying the chill from the glacier ridge off Graham Island swept over Deception Island today. hut this lias not halted our expedition's work, which proceeds unceasingly from six in the morning till late at night, except on Sunday. Even here, what we call the day of rest does not begin until eight o’clock. Even so, our condition is comparatively luxurious. We are ensconced in heated cabins. The stewards serve good food in abundance. We drive to work each morning in a little Austin automobile. We are wondering all the time how the earlier Polar explorers spent the long months sledging and existing on meagre rations.”
